Key pillars of our Sports Physiotherapy approach
Our approach to Sports Physiotherapy is geared towards optimising sports performance whether preventing injury, injury recovery or identifying key strategies for performance enhancement.
1. Injury prevention
The best defence against injury is to guard against it with the right injury prevention training program.
Our injury prevention programs are scientifically based. After a thorough assessment at an initial consultation, your treatment plan will be tailored to your identified risk factors. This may involve an in-studio and/or home exercise program or it can be delivered as a team warm-up.
Individualised exercise programs
Personalised exercise programs that target specific areas of weakness may include strength training, flexibility exercises and stability work to enhance overall physical health and readiness for sports.
Warm-Up and cool-down routines
Our experienced Sports Physiotherapists can guide you on effective warm-up and cool-down routines.
Proper warm-ups prepare the body for physical activity by increasing blood flow to muscles and improving joint mobility, reducing the risk of strains and sprains. Cool-downs aid in promoting recovery and minimising muscle soreness after activity.
Taping and bracing
In some cases, we may use taping or bracing techniques to provide additional support and stability to vulnerable joints. This can be particularly helpful for athletes with a history of joint injuries or instability.
2. Sports injury Physio - injury management
Our injury management approach involves a thorough assessment. We'll refer you for necessary scans or medical advice from outset to ensure an accurate diagnosis with no time wasted. Then we'll discuss the findings and work with you to create an achievable plan for your sporting goals, lifestyle and budget.
Often this will involve hands-on treatment such as massage, joint mobilisation, acupuncture/dry needling, muscle activation, cupping, soft tissue therapy, ultrasound, taping or bracing. The initial focus will be on managing symptoms, reducing pain and controlling inflammation.
Exercise rehabilitation may involve a home exercise or gym-based program we'll create for you. We have a fantastic video-based platform you can see via an app which will make following the program easy.
Clinic based Pilates or Strength and Conditioning rehabilitation via 1:1 or Group 1:4 with us can be an excellent way to fast-track your recovery. We'll discuss all these options with you

3. Performance optimisation
Performance optimisation with a Sports Physiotherapist from High Line Active initially involves a comprehensive assessment which may include athlete screening, biomechanical analysis, and fitness testing.
Once we have identified any areas of weakness and the scope for improvement or injury risk, we will explain our findings and work with you to develop a plan.
We can tailor training programs to meet the specific demands of particular sports. This includes exercises that mimic movements and requirements of the sport, enhancing functional fitness and reducing the risk of sport-specific injuries.
We commonly assist distance athletes such as triathletes, marathon or ultra runners with training and load management advice when getting training discomfort.
